2016A&C333 - Schofield Park Project Mexborough

For more than a year Schofield Street and the surrounding area has been subject to significant bouts of ASB, criminal activity and gang lead behavior. The streets in question are of mixed tenure, but are predominantly private rented and the area in general is extremely run down and unsightly in places. Schofield Park is positioned adjacent to Schofield Street. The park, in particular the play area, has been badly damaged over previous years, which has left much of the apparatus dilapidated and unfit for either use or repair.
Following a multiagency approach and a significant amount of resources the ASB, and other ASB associated activities have improved greatly, this is partly due to many of the gang leaders being on remand or imprisoned. A further success in the fight against crime and ASB in the area is a CCTV camera which has been located and captures most of the area of Schofield Street.
