Decision details

Following a recent decision to reconstitute the Doncaster East Drainage Board, and reduce the size of the Board's membership from 25 to 15, Doncaster Council has been asked to appoint a total of 8 members to the new Board. These appointments will take effect from 1 November 2019 when the newly constituted Board comes into operation.

As the Council pays the largest proportion of the Internal Drainage Board funding based on the area of land, it is essential that the Council's interests are sufficiently represented through its appointments to IDBs. Such appointments also ensure that the Council is involved in any decisions that may affect the people of the Borough.

To approve the following appointments of representatives of Doncaster Council on the Doncaster East Drainage Board, their Terms of Office to run from 1 November 2019 to 31 October 2022:

Mr C Crowe (Coal Authority)

Mr P Horne
Mr M Oldknow

Option 1 - To appoint Council representatives to the Doncaster East Drainage Board (recommendation option).

Option 2 - To not appoint Council representatives on the Doncaster East Drainage Board. The option not to appoint to this body would mean a loss of opportunity for the Council in lobbying, decision making, representing the Council's views and influencing future policy.
