CYP O24251010-Kids Mediation. Mediation uplift / pay variation.

Decision Maker: Executive Director of Children, Young People and Families (DCS)

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

To ensure sustainability, Kids Mediation have demonstrated to the Council justification for a price increase, citing several reasons which relate to unavoidable cost pressures of inflation, National Living Wage increase, National Insurance increase and pension costs
and the overall rising cost of doing business, including associated charges with labour cost increases. The uplift request relates to the cost of current and future children’s Mediations. Nevertheless, the fundamental reason of the increase is the increase that
Trustees have awarded to Kids Mediation staff of 4% salary increment. As staffing makes up the majority of the costs Kids Mediation have added 4% to the 2023/24 rates

To consider the annual uplift request payment of 4% for the re-commission of the Kids Mediation service, the extension would be for one year.
The initial contract was for 2 years from 9th August 2021 and allows for three 12-month extensions

Alternative options considered:

Re-commission for one year then go back out to market.
Re-commission for one year, then extend through additional extension periods.
There would be limited time available to re-procure an alternative, and the service area have stated that they are happy with Kids Mediation and have no reason of concern or appetite to re-procure at this stage. Kids Mediation also send in regular updates and communication is good.
