RESOLVED that the minutes of the meetings of the Chief Officer Appointments Committee held on 22nd June and 24th June, 2015, be approved and signed by the Chair.

RESOLVED that the public and press be excluded from the remaining proceedings of the meeting in accordance with Section 100(A)(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, as amended, on the grounds that exempt information as defined in paragraph 1 of Schedule 12A to the Act, is likely to be disclosed.

The Committee received a report to inform of the arrangements made for the short-listing to the post of Assistant Director of Legal and Democratic Services (Monitoring Officer) and to agree the process to be undertaken for final assessment and interview; together with details of individual applicants.

It was reported that 7 candidates had been attracted through the recent advertising campaign and all candidates were considered in the shortlisting process.

Technical assessments had been undertaken by Barry Khan, Assistant Chief Executive (Legal and Democratic Services), Council Solicitor and Monitoring Officer at North Yorkshire County Council and Nick Cole from Berwick Partners. The outcomes of these assessments were presented for discussion.

RESOLVED that 4 candidates be short-listed for interview on 13th January 2016 for the post of Assistant Director of Legal and Democratic Services (Monitoring Officer).
